Ilora sits inside the Masai Mara National Reserve — ten minutes from the migration crossing at the Mara River. There are two ways to arrive: by air in 45 minutes, or by road in six to seven hours. We arrange transfers for both.
The simplest way to arrive. A scheduled or charter flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi takes approximately 45 minutes and lands at Olkiombo Airstrip — ten minutes by road from Ilora. You clear the city and you are in the Mara.
Flights run daily on scheduled services and can be chartered privately. We arrange the airstrip transfer for all guests. A member of our team meets you on arrival.
Approximately 280 kilometres, taking six to seven hours depending on traffic out of Nairobi and conditions on the final stretch. The drive through the Rift Valley is genuinely beautiful — one of Kenya's great scenic roads — and many guests choose it for the journey itself.
We recommend an early departure from Nairobi to avoid city traffic. Private transfers can be arranged from JKIA or your Nairobi accommodation directly to Ilora.
Kenya in East Africa, the Mara in Kenya's south-west, Ilora in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The three maps below move from continent to reserve.
Ilora sits at the centre of the Masai Mara National Reserve, within the wider ecosystem of reserve and conservancies. The main river crossing is ten minutes away, and the plains around us hold some of the densest game in the Mara — yet rarely the vehicles. Here the finest sightings come without the crowd, the wilderness for a while entirely your own.
Ilora occupies thirty acres in a circular layout — 14 suites arranged like branches, connected by pathways to the dining tent, pool, spa, sky deck, and reception at the heart. Your suite will be ready. Your guide will be waiting.
Tell us your arrival details when you enquire and we'll handle the rest — airstrip pickup, road transfer, or connection from JKIA. Nothing is left to chance.
